Why does beauty mean pain.

I must say this isnt all my idea. But talking with a fellow classmate made sit down and think why is beauty for women also means hours of pain. I mean think about it. Society tells women that we must wear heels to show our feminity when we are young women. While women are claking around with there heels we are all just preparing ourselves for future orthapedic surgery. ( shaking my head) Heels are getting higher and higher these day and I really believe that we are wearing these heels because Men love us in them and they are " sexy" so of course we wear them to please society and the expectations in our looks to be deem womenly enough. I mean isnt it enough that we wear those wrecthed contraptions called bras with the wires that have been linked to higher cause of breast cancer. No! thats not enough we also must shave every hair that is left on our body or even if its left it must be plucked and shaped so that its is perfectly neat. Do men go under these painful task daily or even weekly to maintain? I think not ! They just simply shower a quick shave and are out the door while women spend over a billion dollars to follow this image of what society feels is beautiful and what women should be doing. So beside plucking, feet suffering from deformation and contraptions we call bras what else do we have rough? I thought that was enough but I guess everyday society is coming out with new ways to harm us from laser removal to tanning booths. PLEASE O PLEASE . tell me when enough is enough and society can just take women for what they really are inside and out.

thank you.

  1. now you know i had to comment on this blog :-)
    lol..okay.
I totally agree that society puts out so many statements about what beautiful is,and they are getting extreme.but at the end of the day what do you expect from women? we LOVE to be beautiful! at least i do. And although i do, i would never break backwards to go along with the lastest and greatest. I personally just love fashion and right now fashion is wearing chuncky heels, lace tights, and big sweaters etc... that sounds so sexy right? but i love it because i just do :) not because society says so? if i did that then i would starve my self and get growth hormone pills but i'm comfortable in the skin i'm in and the skin i'm in enjoys being in the spotlight and looking my best&it's not painful for me, BUT there are days that i don't wear make up, or heels, and accessories and i'm fine with that too, because i take myself for what i really am on the inside and out& with make up or with out &could care less what society approves. That's when it becomes a problem, girls go extreme to be "approved" not me because clothes, heels and accesories don't make me, I MAKE ME.so you shouldn't put every girl that wears heels and make up in this category you're dicussing because i am proof that i'm me for me, not "me" for what society wants me to be.

  2. I don't think that all women try to make themselves prettier because of men, I think they do it for themselves. Society has its own standards of beauty, but not everyone folllows society. People have their own perception of beauty, they don't always need to be following the standards of society. I think that doing so much to fit the ideal standard of beauty is stupid, and I don't think many women do it anyway. Women do things for themselves. I disagree that women do all these things to fit society's standards.
