Super Size Me
Morgan Spurlock shows the effects of fast food on a person's body by going on an all McDonald's diet for thirty days. Morgan starts out as a healthy male with a body weight of 185 lbs. After eating McDonald's for only two weeks, he gains over five pounds. After twenty days he is advised to stop his diet because it may cause irreversible harm. Morgan Spurlock weighs over 200 lbs. and endangers his liver at the end of his McDonald's diet. Fast food is addicting and extremely unhealtlhy, especially when consumed on a regular basis. Many assume it to be a major cause of obesity. Fast food industries have a lot of influence in many places, like congress. Fast food manufacturers know that what's in their food is unhealthy, but they do not put money in researching ways to make their food more healthy even though they can. People don't choose to be healthy either. People choose the convenience and taste fast food instead of eating healthy, so it's not just the fault of the fast food industry. Fast food is a problem because of the obesity it causes, but there is little action being taken to reduce obesity and one of its major causes, fast food.
PETA advertisment

PETA has yet again stirred up controversy with another one of its in your face advertisements promoting animal rights. The advertisement promotes vegetarianism by saying "Save the Whales, go vegetarian" and shows the back of a rotund woman wearing a bikini. Making fun of a person who is obese isn't the best way to deal with obesity. Also, using obesity as a way to promote vegetarianism just seems stupid. PETA shouldn't be that malicious toward people with weight problems just so they can get their point across. It's not really about PETA telling people that going vegetarian as a way of combating their obesity problem( even though it's not really meat eating that is a major reason for most cases of obesity), but it's that they promoted the message in a despicable way. PETA has always cared a lot more about animals and not about humans, which is kind of strange because in biology humans are part of the animals. PETA did not get the vegetarian point across very well in my opinion because too many people were angered by the billboard that showed the vegetarian promotion.
GenderBlog/Influence of Barbie

If Barbie was a real person she would be over seven feet tall. She would be underweight for her height, and she would be too top heavy to stand up straight. Apparently women feel pressured to look like Barbie which is nearly impossible. Barbie has supposedly caused a lot of pressure on young girls to look like her. I disagree. I don't think girls care that much about Barbie's measurements. I never really cared about Barbie's measurements, the only measurement of Barbie I ever thought of is that she eleven and a half inches tall. I don't think that the designers of Barbie meant to make her so disproportionate. I don't think anyone cared that Barbie should be built to scale of a real person, and I don't think that it really matters that she is so disproportionate. People say that Barbie pressures girls into trying to be something that they can't, but I think that girls care more about Barbie's hair than her body.

I agree but to a certain extent Mcdonald is not trying to find a healthy option they dont care. All there trying to do is serve food thats good and have a good taste not trying to help their consumers lose wieght. Mc donalds pride themselve on being fast and cheap, most of the times vegatable arent cheap and hard to make good in a mass production. I dont think it is Mc donald responsibility to make food healthy but to put in their consumers laps just how many calories. This society is moving to fast and we have a problem slowing down for just a minute to cook dinner. Kids shouldnt make Mc donalds or even fast food their primary source of food.
I also find in certain communitied Fast food is all over the place it isnt neccessary to have all those fast food restuaurants. In the inner city they should have restrictions on having so many fast food restuarants they lore in children to eat unhealthy things putting pressure on them. Thats why I move to take away so many fast food restuarants.

Advertising Blog

Where ever you go, in today’s society we are swamped with ads. Every day we are faced with thousands of ads. It’s become a part of our daily lives and we are undoubtedly influenced by them. They push us to try their new fish sandwich, or what the latest fall fashion is, or even what toilet tissue is more “productive/efficient”. Of course these are there jobs, and they also have families to provide for and live their lives, but it is also conditioning our society to life by what the media says is “right” or the “best”. Did those advertising companies ever think about those families who can’t afford to eat out, while their mouths are drooling for the mouth watering Olive Garden commercial. Or that little boy, whose the only boy on his block without the latest model of the x-Box 360, because his can’t manage to pay for it. These give those individuals, who are just as equal and have just as many rights, the belief that they are someway missing out. So, the one problem that I could come up in faulting the advertising companies is their tactics. Which are, that they pressure people to strive for what they cannot have. But on the other hand, that’s just a part of our day by day lives and something that we have to deal with.

Why does beauty mean pain.
I must say this isnt all my idea. But talking with a fellow classmate made sit down and think why is beauty for women also means hours of pain. I mean think about it. Society tells women that we must wear heels to show our feminity when we are young women. While women are claking around with there heels we are all just preparing ourselves for future orthapedic surgery. ( shaking my head) Heels are getting higher and higher these day and I really believe that we are wearing these heels because Men love us in them and they are " sexy" so of course we wear them to please society and the expectations in our looks to be deem womenly enough. I mean isnt it enough that we wear those wrecthed contraptions called bras with the wires that have been linked to higher cause of breast cancer. No! thats not enough we also must shave every hair that is left on our body or even if its left it must be plucked and shaped so that its is perfectly neat. Do men go under these painful task daily or even weekly to maintain? I think not ! They just simply shower a quick shave and are out the door while women spend over a billion dollars to follow this image of what society feels is beautiful and what women should be doing. So beside plucking, feet suffering from deformation and contraptions we call bras what else do we have rough? I thought that was enough but I guess everyday society is coming out with new ways to harm us from laser removal to tanning booths. PLEASE O PLEASE . tell me when enough is enough and society can just take women for what they really are inside and out.
thank you.
thank you.

Why can’t little Timmy wish for a pretend mommy (why not daddy) and me kitchen set? Or why can’t little Sally wish for a pretend daddy (why not mommy) and me outside grilling set? Well, the answer to those questions is because of the “unspoken rules” society puts on us. Tries to get us to believe that only females a suppose to be in the kitchen stuffing the turkey, with a timer in hand, and males are suppose to be in the backyard flipping a hamburger, with an ice cold beer in hand. This ridiculous stereotype is one that we are faced with everyday. And I believe that as a citizen, in a society where we are suppose to act, look, and feel a certain way, it is our responsibility to stand up and protest. Protest that little Timmy will be just fine if he learns the proper way to season a turkey or if little Sally learns the different techniques in flipping a steak. I believe that the advertising companies are trying to condition our young children into a “perfect American”, when in actuality they are tearing a generation down in feeling comfortable and confident in oneself. To stand up and do what they please, because if a person doesn’t stand for something, he or she will fall for anything.
